Medical Rescue Africa (MRA) is Namibia’s leading provider of aeromedical evacuation, emergency medical, and remote site medical services. Operating as Westair Medical Rescue Africa (Pty) Ltd t/a Medical Rescue Africa, it forms part of the Westair Group of Companies and delivers critical care across Namibia and other parts of Africa.

The company was established to provide specialised critical care and ICU-level aeromedical evacuations. It operates a state-of-the-art 24/7 Emergency Response Centre (ERC) in Windhoek and maintains fully equipped Intensive Care road ambulances, Advanced Life Support (ALS) rapid response vehicles, and dedicated air ambulance aircraft.

Core services include fixed-wing and rotor-wing aeromedical evacuations (including Helicopter Emergency Medical Services – HEMS and Search & Rescue – SAR), ground ambulance services, remote site telemedicine, on-site medical support, and specialised training courses for medical and emergency response personnel. It also offers the MRA Mayday Panic/Assistance App for rapid emergency activation.

MRA supports a wide range of clients, including medical insurance and assistance companies, embassies, mining and oil & gas operations (onshore and offshore), humanitarian organisations, and the general public. It maintains remote aeromedical bases in Senegal and Mozambique and provides dedicated support in key Namibian locations such as Walvis Bay, Oranjemund, and Lüderitz.

The company holds high operational standards, including registration as an Advanced Life Support Road and Air Ambulance provider with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) and the Namibian Association of Medical Aid Funds (NAMAF). It also holds Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) Gold Status and complies with International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) standards.
