The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) is Namibia’s official investment promotion agency and the lead institution for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) development. Established in 2021, it succeeded the Namibia Investment Centre and operates as an autonomous public enterprise under the Presidency with a mandate to attract investment and support local enterprise growth.

NIPDB serves as the first point of contact for both local and foreign investors. It provides end-to-end support, from initial enquiries and site visits to business registration, permit facilitation, and aftercare services. The Board also advocates for policy reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and creating a more investor-friendly environment.

In addition to investment promotion, NIPDB coordinates national efforts to develop and support MSMEs. It leads initiatives focused on access to finance, access to markets, capacity building, and business ideation, helping smaller businesses scale and contribute meaningfully to economic diversification and job creation.

The Board plays a strategic role in positioning Namibia as a competitive investment destination in Africa. It works to improve the country’s rankings on global competitiveness indices, promotes key sectors with high growth potential, and supports the implementation of Namibia’s investment policy and strategy.

NIPDB collaborates closely with government ministries, development partners, and the private sector to remove barriers to investment and enterprise development. Through targeted programmes and stakeholder engagement, it aims to create an enabling ecosystem where both large-scale investments and small businesses can thrive.

By combining investment facilitation with MSME support, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board contributes directly to Namibia’s broader economic goals of industrialisation, job creation, and sustainable growth. It serves as a central driver in transforming Namibia into a more competitive and inclusive economy.
