Namibia Introduces 50% Subsidy on Lumpy Skin Disease Vaccines for Cattle Farmers
The Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia (LLPBN) has launched a nationwide 50% subsidy scheme for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) vaccines. The programme, effective from 1 January 2026 and running until 31 March 2027, aims to help registered cattle producers protect their herds more affordably.
Under the scheme, eligible producers can claim back half the cost of approved LSD vaccines, capped at a maximum of 500 doses per producer per claim period. Only one payout is allowed per producer during the current claim period. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available funds.
How the Subsidy Works
- Purchase approved LSD vaccines from a registered supplier or veterinary practice.
- Vaccinate your cattle.
- Keep the original invoice/receipt (or a certified copy).
- Obtain a bank confirmation letter (not older than 6 months).
- Submit a complete application with all required supporting documents.
Required documents (all copies must be certified and not older than 6 months):
- Applicant ID
- Stock Brand Card/Certificate
- Proof of LLPBN Producer Registration (certificate or FAN Meat Producer card)
- Proof of LSD vaccine purchase within the claim period
- Bank confirmation letter
Applications can be submitted electronically to [email protected] or delivered in hard copy at the LLPBN head office in Windhoek or the FAN Meat NamLITS Helpdesk. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
After successful verification (including cross-checks with the national herd database), payment is expected within approximately one calendar month.

Note: This subsidy replaces or significantly enhances the earlier 15% support programme.
