NAMDEB HOSTS CAREER FAIR IN ORANJEMUND TO EMPOWER LEARNERS
Oranjemund – Namdeb proudly hosted its inaugural Career Fair in Oranjemund, on 17 – 18 July 2026, reaffirming its commitment to building opportunities for the future and empowering young learners to make informed career choices. The event brought together professionals, educational institutions, and industry representatives to showcase diverse career pathways, with a strong emphasis on STEAM; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
The Career Fair was organized in collaboration with the ǁKharas Regional Council and the Directorate of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture. Schools from the surrounding areas were invited to participate, with attendance from Oranjemund Private School, CambriLearn Tutor Centre, Ambrosius Amutenya Primary School, !Garibams Secondary School (GSS), and Tsau //Khaeb Secondary School from Rosh Pinah.
Namdeb believes career awareness should begin at grassroots level, ensuring that young people have the opportunity to explore possibilities and discover where their interests and talents may fit within the world of work. By engaging directly with professionals, learners gained valuable insights into the skills and qualifications required across different industries.
“Future-ready professionals will be those who embrace lifelong learning, think critically, solve complex problems, communicate effectively, collaborate across cultures, and use technology responsibly. Technical knowledge will always matter, but uniquely human skills such as creativity, resilience, emotional intelligence, and ethical leadership will become even more valuable,” said Namdeb’s Organisational Effectiveness and Talent Manager Charity Jeftha, during the opening.
Historically, learners in Oranjemund had to travel to larger centres such as Windhoek to access career fairs. Despite challenges in the current business environment, Namdeb remains committed to ensuring that learners from the //Kharas Region continue to benefit from career guidance opportunities. By hosting the Career Fair locally, Namdeb eliminated barriers and made career exploration more accessible, underscoring the company’s dedication to nurturing future talent and contributing to the sustainable development of Namibia.
//Kharas Regional School Counsellor, Alexio Pienaar, said the career fair was welcomed in the region, noting that it provides learners with the opportunity to make evidence-based decisions about their future careers.
Namdeb’s Culture of Safety
In addition to supporting career development initiatives, Namdeb donated reflector bands to Ambrosius Amutenya Primary School on Monday, 20 July 2026. As the nation continues to experience an increase in pedestrian-related accidents, these reflector bands will play an important role in improving road safety by making children more visible to motorists on their way to and from school.
The bands are made from highly reflective material that enhances visibility in low-light conditions, helping drivers spot pedestrians from a greater distance. Through this donation, Namdeb aims to contribute to safer journeys for learners while raising awareness about the importance of road safety within the community.
