Leon Engelbrecht Design

Leon Engelbrecht Design is a proudly Namibian design studio based in Windhoek, founded by designer Leon Engelbrecht. The business combines creative design with local craftsmanship, producing distinctive products that reflect a strong Namibian identity. It has been operating since 2016 and has grown into a recognised name in Namibian design.

A major part of the business is its range of artisan leather goods. Each item is individually handcrafted and hand-sewn using traditional tools and techniques rather than being mass-produced. The range includes leather vellies, slippers, boots, bags, wallets, accessories and other lifestyle products, with an emphasis on durability, craftsmanship and knowing the maker behind the product.

Leon Engelbrecht Design also creates textiles featuring original Namibian-inspired patterns. These designs draw inspiration from Namibia’s landscapes and experiences, and are used across products such as silk scarves, homeware and other textile pieces. The studio has also developed organic cotton bedding and other products for the home.

Alongside its product design and manufacturing, the company provides professional interior design services to private and corporate clients. Its portfolio includes residential properties, offices, medical practices and commercial spaces in Windhoek, with projects demonstrating a strong focus on contemporary interiors, bespoke furnishings and carefully considered finishes.

The studio has received international recognition for its interior design work, including a five-star award for Best Office Interior Namibia at the International Property Awards. It has also collaborated with other Namibian makers and businesses, including Namib Hout, incorporating locally crafted furniture into interior projects.
