Mining For Good

Namdeb Diamond Corporation (Pty) Ltd is a major diamond mining company in Namibia and a wholly owned subsidiary of Namdeb Holdings (Proprietary) Limited. The holding company is jointly owned (50:50) by the Government of the Republic of Namibia and the De Beers Group. Namdeb performs land-based prospecting, mining, and rehabilitation operations along Namibia’s southwest coast.

The company’s core operations focus on diamond exploration and mining in the //Karas Region, including the surf zone, shallow marine areas, and mainland sites centred around Oranjemund, with additional activity near Lüderitz and along the Orange River. It is renowned for innovative mining techniques, such as depositing sand into the sea to extend the coastline and access diamond reserves.

In addition to mining, Namdeb places strong emphasis on environmental rehabilitation and ecological restoration. It runs active programmes to revegetate and restore mined areas, ensuring that diamond extraction contributes positively to the environment and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations.

Namdeb produces diamonds profitably, sustainably, and responsibly for the benefit of its shareholders and other stakeholders. The company plays a significant role in Namibia’s economy by converting previously inaccessible diamond resources into national wealth while upholding high standards of safety, environmental care, and community responsibility.

The business operates with a long-term vision of being “the Pride of Namibia’s Mining – to 2050 and beyond.” It invests in innovation, employee wellbeing, and sustainable practices that align with Namibia’s broader development goals.

Through its mining and rehabilitation activities, Namdeb not only extracts valuable resources but also demonstrates how responsible mining can support economic growth, environmental restoration, and social development in Namibia.
