NamPower

NamPower is Namibia’s national state-owned electricity utility. It is responsible for the generation, transmission, bulk supply, and trading of electricity, playing a central role in powering the country’s socio-economic development and industrialisation.

The company’s core mandate covers the full electricity value chain, including generation (from various sources), high-voltage transmission, and bulk supply to Regional Electricity Distributors (REDs), municipalities, and large customers. It also facilitates electricity imports and exports through the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).

NamPower provides essential customer services, including a 24/7 customer contact centre, an online Customer eService portal for viewing invoices and making payments, and a Quality of Electricity Supply Portal. These tools help customers manage their accounts and monitor supply reliability.

The utility is actively involved in expanding and modernising Namibia’s electricity infrastructure, with a strong focus on renewable energy integration, grid stability, and regional energy collaboration. It operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy and adheres to the Public Enterprises Governance Act.

NamPower emphasises sustainability, innovation, and customer value in its operations. Its Integrated Strategic Business Plan (2026–2030) prioritises reliable supply, affordability, environmental responsibility, and long-term energy security for Namibia.

Through its activities, NamPower supports national development goals by ensuring a stable electricity supply that enables economic growth, attracts investment, and improves the quality of life for Namibians across urban and rural areas.
