Namport

The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) is a state-owned enterprise responsible for the management and operation of Namibia’s two commercial ports: the Port of Walvis Bay and the Port of Lüderitz. Established in 1994, Namport serves as the national port authority and plays a central role in facilitating seaborne trade for Namibia and the wider Southern African region.

Walvis Bay is Namibia’s primary deep-water port and one of the most important gateways on the west coast of Africa. It serves as a key logistics hub for landlocked countries such as Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The port handles container, bulk, breakbulk, and liquid cargo, as well as providing vessel repair and dry-docking services through its Syncrolift facility.

Namport’s mission is to provide excellent port services to all seaborne trade through quality customer service, sustainable growth, and social responsibility. The authority continuously invests in infrastructure development, operational efficiency, and technology to improve turnaround times and service quality for shipping lines, cargo owners, and logistics partners.

In addition to port operations, Namport plays a strategic role in positioning Namibia as a regional logistics and trade gateway. The authority works closely with government, the private sector, and regional partners to develop integrated logistics corridors that connect the ports to inland markets across Southern Africa.
