DEBMARINE NAMIBIA EMPLOYEES SUPPORT VISION LIFE CARE ORGANISATION

The Mineral Resources Management (MRM) team at Debmarine Namibia recently raised N$6,500 to support Vision Life Care Organisation in Groot Aub, situated on the outskirts of Windhoek. As part of its practice of amplifying employee initiatives, Debmarine Namibia matched the amount, bringing the total contribution to N$13,000. With these funds, the team purchased eight mattresses and food supplies for the centre.

Founded in 1988 by Clara Baitsewe, Vision Life Care Organisation provides shelter and care for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The centre currently houses 32 children, 18 girls and 14 boys between the ages of 2 and 20. Clara has dedicated nearly four decades to supporting children in need, drawing inspiration from seeing them overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.

Financial support for the organisation is irregular, with assistance coming from private donors from time to time. The contribution from Debmarine Namibia employees and the company itself provided muchneeded relief and stability for the centre.

Clara expressed her gratitude to the MRM team, noting that the donation eased the burden of worrying about daily meals. She highlighted how the visit by employees inspired the children, who reflected on the importance of education and resilience. One child remarked that love and care have no colour, emphasising that the team gave from the heart without judgement.

The mattresses arrived at a crucial time, improving the living conditions of the children. Clara extended her thanks, saying the gesture brought hope and encouragement to both the children and the organisation.

Beyond providing shelter, Vision Life Care Organisation has recently started a sewing project, now in its second week of training. Although limited to six participants due to space constraints, the initiative has already sparked enthusiasm among young people eager to build brighter futures. Plans are underway for participants to sell their products at street markets and, in time, to take part in monthly markets across Namibia. The project also aims to produce items for annual shows, offering opportunities for sustainable income and skills development.

The contribution from Debmarine Namibia’s MRM team and the company’s matching support has provided immediate relief and long-term encouragement to Vision Life Care Organisation. The gesture not only addressed pressing needs but also reinforced the organisation’s mission of empowering children and young people to rise above their circumstances.
