Namibia Training Authority

Quality Training Starts With Compliance

The Namibia Training Authority is a statutory body established under Section 4 of the Vocational Education and Training Act, No. 1 of 2008. It serves as the national regulator and funder of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET/VET) in Namibia.

Its core mandate is to create an effective and sustainable system of skills formation that is aligned with labour-market needs. This system aims to deliver the competencies required for accelerated economic development, productive employment, and improved standards of living, while promoting access, equity, and quality in vocational training.

The NTA advises the Minister responsible for VET on national policy and related matters. It also regulates training providers, oversees assessment and certification processes, manages the National Training Fund, and administers the VET Levy paid by employers.

Through the VET Levy, the Authority funds Employer Training Grants and Key Priority Grants that support skills development. It works closely with registered Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), industry, and other stakeholders to raise the quality and relevance of training.

The organisation’s vision is to be a vibrant and dynamic institution that enables a sustainable TVET sector and positions itself as Namibia’s “port of call” for vocational skills. It emphasises work-integrated learning, green skills, and future-ready competencies.

Headquartered in Windhoek, the NTA continues to expand registered training providers, strengthen assessment systems, and support national priorities such as the green energy transition and youth employability.
