Hangana Seafood
Hangana Seafood is a 100% Namibian-owned seafood company and a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group. It specialises in the harvesting, processing and value-adding of hake, as well as selected other seafood products.
The company’s roots date back to 1968 with Consortium Fisheries, and it took its current form in 2004 when the O&L Group consolidated its fishing interests. Hangana is one of the largest employers in Namibia’s fishing industry, with around 1,650 employees.
Hangana operates its own fleet of wet-fish trawlers and runs a modern processing factory in Walvis Bay. Its product range includes fresh, frozen (including IQF), value-added, canned and take-away seafood items, primarily focused on hake but also including by-catch species and canned pilchards.
The company exports to markets in Europe, Australia, the United States and the SADC region, while also serving the local market through its factory fish shop and distribution channels. It places strong emphasis on quality, food safety (HACCP, ISO and BRC standards) and sustainable resource management.
Hangana aligns with the O&L Group purpose of “Creating a Future, Enhancing Life” and positions itself as a proudly Namibian company that supports local employment, community initiatives and responsible ocean stewardship.
Based at 19 Ben Amathila Avenue in Walvis Bay, Hangana continues to invest in modern processing technology and product innovation while remaining a key player in Namibia’s hake industry.
