CENORED

CENORED (Central North Regional Electricity Distributor) is one of Namibia’s regional electricity distribution companies. It was established as the third licensed RED, following NORED and Erongo RED, and began operations in the mid-2000s.

The company distributes and supplies electricity across a large licence area covering the Otjozondjupa Region and parts of the Oshikoto, Omaheke and Kunene regions. Its service territory spans approximately 120,000 square kilometres with extensive medium- and low-voltage network infrastructure.

CENORED serves a diverse customer base that includes large power users, businesses and residential (including prepaid) customers in towns such as Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, Grootfontein, Outjo, Okakarara, Khorixas and surrounding areas. The customer base is in the region of 34,000 to 50,000 accounts depending on the reporting period.

Shareholders consist of the relevant Regional Councils, local authorities within the supply area, and NamPower. Shareholding is determined by the value of assets contributed and electricity sales volumes in each shareholder’s area.

The company’s mission focuses on distributing and supplying electricity in a customer-responsive manner that supports socio-economic development. It emphasises reliable supply, network maintenance, electrification projects and customer service.

Headquartered at 30 Dr Frans Indongo Street in Otjiwarongo, CENORED continues to invest in infrastructure, rural and peri-urban electrification, and improved service delivery across its central-northern operating area.
