Members of the Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am honoured to be part of this occasion of the handing-over of energy-efficient light bulbs to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, on behalf of NamPower.
NamPower, as a caring corporate citizen is aware of and recognises the needs of our society, especially those in remote and less privileged areas of the country. Therefore, alongside its huge capital investments in ensuring security of electricity supply for the nation, the company has over the years established a footprint in the social investment sphere in Namibia through its social investment arm, the NamPower Foundation. NamPower is proud to have invested millions into projects aimed at uplifting the socio-economic conditions of communities.
The NamPower Foundation’s main objective is to plough back into our communities, and we do this by supporting various projects which are focused on the socio-economic upliftment of our society. Health and Social Welfare is one of the five (5) focus areas of the NamPower Foundation.
Honourable, Minister when your good office approached NamPower for assistance, we naturally heeded to your call, because we at NamPower are fully supportive of all Government’s efforts in providing, affordable, accessible and quality health care services to the nation.
Honourable Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen
As we continue to face an extraordinary challenge by the growing COVID-19 pandemic, who’s wrath knows no bounds and affects each and every one of us including the infrastructure and resources particularly at our national health institutions. In light of this, NamPower is pleased to be able to once again demonstrate its commitment to building a greater Namibia for all, by graciously and generously contributing thirteen thousand and one hundred (13,100) energy-efficient light bulbs, valued at N$297,000.00 to the country’s national referral hospital, Windhoek Central Hospital.
We believe that it is our responsibility and moral imperative to meet the Namibian Government and other role players’ half-way in providing basic services such as health to our communities. We are indeed happy to partner with the Ministry of Health and Social Services in this project as well as support the people that we serve. Honourable Minister, please accept our humble contribution, as we hope that our assistance here today will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow countrymen and women.
In conclusion, today’s donation is a clear demonstration that NamPower is not only preaching the message of energy savings, but that we are also leading by example. NamPower will continue to play a major role in ensuring security of supply for the country and its people, and we ask you to use electricity sparingly at all times.
