THE 2018 TOUR DE WINDHOEK

Namibia, the 2018 Tour de Windhoek is here! With 5 stages spread over three days. This 400 km road race stands as the pinnacle of the Namibian cycling calendar. Last year’s event saw the best of the best local riders pitted not only against each other, but also against international teams competing for the coveted title of champions of Windhoek.

The race will take place from the 21st – 23rd September in and around the greater Windhoek area, with five stages including Dordabis, the Team Trial, Hollard Bypass, Pupkewitz Megabuild Criterium and the Tony Rust Race Track. Distances for each stage varies from 107 km for Dordabis to 23 km in the Team Trials.

As per usual the best riders for certain categories will be rewarded with event jerseys including King of the Mountains, Sprinter, Best young rider and last but not least the acclaimed Yellow Jersey, which will be worn by the rider at the top of the general classification, having completed all stages in the least amount of time.

With the boom in interest from up and coming Namibian riders, as well as achievements by local riders on the International circuits, the Tour de Windhoek does not only stand as the pride of Namibian road cycling, it also proudly stands as a platform for our local riders to enter and experience the thrill of professional competition at its best, guiding them to greater heights as they climb the ranks and develop their talents.

Once again none of this would be possible without the undying support of our sponsors, Hollard, Pupkewitz Group, Radiowave, NBL, Kickstart Events/Innovation Tents, Windhoek Pedal Power and the Namibian Cycling Federation, whose contributions not only ensured that this amazing race can take place, but also ensured that it will be bigger and better than any before it.

Team representatives are requested to confirm their starters and collect their race numbers as well as timing chips at registration from 5-6pm on 20 September 2018 at Hollard’s Assessment Centre, Driveable, 22 Joule Street, Southern Industrial, Windhoek.
