January is over, and we are just getting the hang of February. The kids are back at school, the gyms and roads are full, and everyone is finally back to their daily ways of doing things.
With the young ones back at school, the learning doesn’t have to end when the school bell rings- it can continue at home. DStv knows how important edutainment is for the little ones – keeping their minds sharp and their imaginations wild all while teaching them life values and lessons and giving you some well-deserved downtime too.
Here are four of our favourite children’s shows for you and your kids to enjoy, while giving the little one’s great teachable moments.
Mickey Mouse Mixed-Up Adventures
Beloved by preschool fans and their families around the globe, the adorable, glove-wearing mouse needs no introduction. Watch Disney’s #1 star as he joins his lifelong pals Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto for wacky adventures around Hot Dog Hills. Kids will adore the friendship theme, learning lessons about loyalty and kindness along the way.
Catch Season 3 on Disney Junior (DStv Channel 309) – Weekdays until 21 February at 08:30 CAT.
PAW Patrol
Focusing on the importance of helping the community and making it a happier, safer place for all, this sweet show features a team of talented puppies that go out of their way to protect Adventure Bay. With messages of dogged determination (excuse the pun) and teamwork, PAW Patrol is a dose of fun for the whole family.
Tune in for Season 6, on Friday 7 February at 09:25 CAT on Nick Junior (DStv Channel 307).
Power Players
Meet the world’s tiniest, boldest and most playful heroes in this CGI-animated series. Brought to life by nine-year-old Axel Mulligan, a toy wrestler, war veteran toy, plush teddy bear and flamboyant lizard toy are the least likely of champions but are ready to change the world alongside their creator. While kids may be tempted to turn their own toys into mini heroes, the show also teaches friendship, self-belief and that dynamite does come in small packages.
Season 1 will be available on Cartoon Network (DStv Channel 301) from Monday 24 February at 07:20 CAT.
Raven’s Home
Remember the wildly popular That’s So Raven show? Its star – Raven-Symoné – is back in a spin-off series. This time, she is a divorced mother of twins Booker and Nia, living with her best friend Chelsea and her son Levi. It looks like Booker is taking after his mom, with psychic abilities of his own. Funny, relatable and lovable, it’s easy to binge-watch this one with your kids. The show’s main themes are honesty and communication in a family unit with a focus on the importance of sibling relationships too.
Watch Season 3 on the Disney Channel (DStv Channel 303) from Monday 10 February at 17:00 CAT.
Big Hero 6
With life lessons like dream big, believe in yourself and choose your friends wisely, this Disney gem is a beautiful story that will resonate with everyone – old and young alike. When Tadashi dies tragically, his brother Hiro is left with Baymax, Tadashi’s invented health-care companion. Together, the unlikely pair embark on an adventure to discover what really happened to Tadashi – transforming into superheroes in the process.
Disney XD (DStv Channel 304) has your fix from Monday 10 February at 17:00 CAT.
